Activated carbon is used for many industrial processing and environmental management applications such as: pharmaceutical manufacture, mineral processing, liquid and food purification, air filtering, odor control, and water filtering of many different varieties. This versatile element is also crucial in the deactivation and clean-up of many chemical and biological hazardous waste spills. When the carbon is completely used up it becomes known as “spent” carbon and it must be disposed of.
The responsible party needs to then determine whether the spent carbon waste is hazardous or non-hazardous and whether it needs to be managed according to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) or by a less stringent set of guidelines. Pro-Teck will work with you to determine the nature of the spent carbon from your application and then help to determine the most logical, cost efficient, and timely transportation and disposal plan for your situation.
