PCB Ballasts and Transformers

PCB ballasts are found in the housing of fluorescent, mercury vapor, and high intensity discharge lighting that were manufactured prior to 1980. When these PCB ballasts go out of service, they are subject to the strict requirements of the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) and other state regulations. Pro-Teck is well versed in all state regulations for PCB disposal in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and other surrounding areas.

Toxic PCBs can also be present in many older transformers, capacitors, hydraulic systems, electromagnets, and circuit breakers. The TSCA PCB cleanup and spill reporting requirements are complicated and difficult to summarize because they may vary according to the source, volume and location of a spill. The hazardous waste professionals at Pro-Teck will research and analyze each individual PCB disposal project and devise a safe, worry-free, and cost effective elimination plan that will stand up against the harshest requirements.
